Import Blog

Hibu Websites • June 22, 2020
  • Hibu, by request, can import existing blog posts from an existing RSS feed
    • In most cases, a webpage ending with "/blog" has an RSS feed - provided the client used a proper blog platform ie Wordpress, Blogger, Typepad, Weebly, Wix, Squarespace, and Sitemaker / Hibu Premium sites, etc.
    • All existing blog posts will be imported, however only the elements which are supported in HWP will be imported: Texts (H1 / H2 / H3, paragraph), images, videos (Youtube / Vimeo), HTML elements, dividers and disqus comments, as well as post author and post date.
    • Up to 300 blog posts can be imported from an RSS feed.
      • Note, FindLaw blogs will only permit the most recent 15 posts to be imported into an HWP blog
    • The process can take a few minutes, depending on how many posts are in the feed. While the posts are being imported, you can continue editing the site (except the blog). You cannot publish or republish the site.
    • After importing, all posts will remain in draft mode (will NOT be visible on pre-live proof) and must be published by the client via DIY after site is published AND live online
      • Note, Hibu does not guarantee that all imported blog elements will appear exactly as the original post appeared on previous site, ie, stylization, coloring, font styles, formatting, etc.
    • Hibu will not re-publish posts on behalf of client

Additionally...

  • SSL is set up automatically when you migrate a WordPress site to HwP.
  • Backups are handled automatically in HwP. There’s no need for an additional backup service, and there is no need to install backup plugins.
  • The same is true for a CDN. You don’t need to connect up and manage a separate CDN; it just comes as part of the HwP website builder platform.
  • When you migrate the WordPress blog, the URL slug of each post will be added accordingly.
  • Similarly, the migration will bring over the Title and Author for every blog post in the site that you move over.
  • The post description gets pulled over automatically from the RSS feed “Description” field.
  • HTML header elements in the content, such as H2 tags, will migrate over. So will in-post images.
