301 Redirect

  • The 301 Redirect (aka URL redirect) feature allows Hibu to redirect old page URLs to the new Hibu Smart Site pages while Google and other search engines adjust to the changes.
    • By definition, a redirect is a way to send both users and search engines to a different URL from the one they originally requested. Moreover, the 301 redirect is a permanent redirect which passes between 90-99% of link equity (ranking power) to the redirected page.
  • Hibu will add 301 redirects for all BYOD Hibu Smart Site Pro sites. Specifically...
    • Prior to seeing the site live Hibu will 301 only redirect top-level (global) and sub-navigation pages from BYOD / 3rd party websites to the homepage of the PRO Smart Site homepage – provided the old site and the new site is utilizing the same domain.
      • Hibu will only 301 redirect the same domain. In other words, foo.com redirected to foo.com. We cannot redirect foo.net to foo.com.
  • Hibu will 301 redirect all pages of an existing Hibu website (NextGen, Sitemaker, Advantage, Fatwire, legacy, etc) to the homepage of the Standard or Pro Smart Site homepage.

3rd Party HTML Widgets

  • Hibu will make a best attempt to add client-supplied 3rd party HTML snippets to:
  • Head HTML
  • Body content or footer via the HTML widget
  • NOTE:  3rd party HTML snippets (including analytics) should never be added to the Body end area.
  • A widget is a stand-alone application that can be embedded via HTML, CSS or JavaScript code into Next Gen and Smart Sites
  • WordPress plugins and  database dependent applications (i.e. IDX/MLS feeds) can not be added to Next Gen and Smart Sites
  • Hibu will not activate, set-up account, generate, or "grab" 3rd party integration code / snippets on behalf of client.
  • Hibu will not debug issues with client-supplied 3rd party HTML snippets
  • All 3rd party codes will not be maintained or supported by Hibu
  • Clients should contact the 3rd party with any issues
  • Hibu will add up to 10 video embeds (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) per site
  • Client may add additional videos via DIY.

  • Countdown widget should only be added to content body of site (between header and footer).

  • a day (Sunday)
  • days of week (weekend)
  • a period of time (April)

  • Dynamic Rows will include the primary CTA defined during consultation: Phone number OR a Request "___________"
  • There may only be one (1) CTA included
  • If both phone and Request "___________" are defined as primary CTA (aka Dual CTA) the DSC or DPS must ask client to choose one over the other

Robots.txt File and XML Sitemap

The robots.txt file tells web robots (search engines) which pages to crawl (i.e. visit and recognize) on a site. Only pages marked "Disallow" will not be crawled.

All Hibu Smart and NextGen Websites include this robots.txt file:
All Hibu Smart and NextGen Websites include an XML Sitemap. Visit https://ssd.websites.hibu.com/sitemap.xml to see this XML Sitemap associated with this site.

The robots.txt file notifies the search engines bots of the XML Sitemap (sitemap.xml) file — a “blueprint” of every page and blog post on a site.

Sitemap https//www._____.com/sitemap.xml instructs the web crawler to visit the associated /sitemap.xml. So, every time a bot visits one page of a NextGen or Smart Site, it jumps to the sitemap.xml file and re-indexes every page of the site, and any changes on those pages.

Sensitive Data

While Hibu does allow for the collection of content through our forms there is some information considered 'sensitive' that we will never ask for to protect website users -- our client's customers -- from hackers.

While not every piece of information that is considered sensitive is listed here, most information classified as Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is sensitive and needs to be protected. If you find that it is necessary for your client's form to collect information that falls into either of these categories, recommend a 3rd-party form platform (i.e. FormSite.com123formbuilder.com, Fast Fields, Jot Forms) that incorporate stricter site security protocols.  Like all 3rd-party apps, your client would be responsible to set up an account and forward embed code to Hibu.

Slider / Slideshow

  • Sliders may be added to all Smart Site packages
  • Sliders will rotate 3 (min) to 5 images (max)
  • Sliders are added to desktop and tablet homepage only
  • Sliders, by design, are not included in mobile layout and sections
  • Stock imagery can, and in most cases, should be used for sliders, although client supplied images can be used if requested and meeting minimum guidelines
  • Min client-supplied image for slider - 2560w x1600h pixels
  • Ideally, images included in slider may also be used as internal page hero image
  • Each of the 3 to 5 slider images can be a composite of multiple images (up to 3) by request only
  • Client supplied composite of multiple images that display phone, email, URL or any other text which may be confused as a link is strictly prohibited.

Transparent Header

  • The Transparent Header is a desktop homepage design option in which the logo, navigation, and other header elements are overlaid on top of a large hero image, resulting in a sleek, modern look.
  • This transparent header effect will be present only on the desktop homepage.
  • The transparent header is intended to use a single background image; image sliders or videos are not permitted for use.
  • Internal pages will display the standard sticky header and will follow our normal build header rules and process.
  • Given the typically poor quality, size, and/or composition of client-supplied images, it is recommended we use stock photography for this header style.
  • Client images will be only considered only if min size (1920X1280) is met.
  • The transparent header is most elegant and effective when using a logo that is simple, single-color, and on a transparent background.
  • Knowing that the majority of our clients will not have a logo available in this format, we need an alternate solution. In these cases, we can take their existing logo and place it on a solid background color/shape.
  • Supplied client logos must be either square or horizontal in orientation; vertical or tall logos will break the intended proportions of this design. It is recommended we swap out the logo with a text-based logo OR replace the transparent header section with a traditional header + hero design.
  • The transparent header may be added to a previously set live Smart Site only.
    •  Next Gen clients must to upgrade.
  • See training.

Video Hero

  • Video Hero may be added to any template for the Standard, Pro & Pro Vertical
  • Hibu will add one (1) client provided hosted video in place of homepage hero or homepage slider as defined by production template
    • Hibu will not, at any time, place BOTH a video hero and homepage slider to client's site
  • Client may add video hero and/or slider to any page or package via DIY
  • HWP can only display a video background via a Vimeo or YouTube video hosted share link
    • YouTube may display a black screen as the video loops. As such, Hibu recommends Vimeo over YouTube as video host
    • Client is free to use YouTube in place of Vimeo provided they understand the potential glitch is not Hibu related
  • Video Hero will only display on Desktop view only
    • Client may provide hero image for tablet and mobile view or allow Hibu to choose image on their behalf
  • Video Hero will not play sound.
  • Video Hero, in general, can take time and bandwidth to load page so Hibu recommends 30 seconds or shorter videos
  • Client is free to use longer video provided they understand may negatively impact user experience and Google page ranking

  • The video spash displays
  • Unless otherwise noted the video splash appears on the home page and ALL service pages

  • If multiple Youtube or Vimeo videos are used, change the popup on the video splash widget to link to video splash pop, video splash 1, etc for each individual video
  • Hibu will add up to 10 video embeds (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) per site
